FAQ
- Why does recording stop when I switch apps or lock the phone?
- iOS allows an app to use the camera only while it is on screen. DashRoute saves the open segment, and when you come back within 5 minutes the same trip continues. Use the dim-screen mode instead of locking the phone.
- How do I make recording start automatically in the car?
- Settings → Auto-start walks you through a Shortcuts automation: when your iPhone connects to the car's Bluetooth or CarPlay, DashRoute opens and starts recording. You set it up once.
- What is protected, exactly?
- When a hard brake, impact, bump or possible crash is detected, or when you mark a moment, the 60 seconds before and after are locked. Loop recording never deletes them. Free keeps the last 10 protected events; Pro keeps all of them.
- The app says the phone is hot.
- Quality drops to 720p and recording continues; if the phone gets critically hot, recording stops to protect it. Keep the phone out of direct sun, use the dim-screen mode and avoid charging through a hot cable.
- Where are my videos? Can I get them onto my Mac?
- Open a trip, make a clip and save it to Photos or export it to Files; from there AirDrop or iCloud Drive works as usual. Raw loop video stays inside the app.
- Plate blur missed a plate.
- Plate blur uses on-device text recognition and works best on sharp, well-lit plates. Check the preview before sharing; you can also choose a different clip window.
- I bought Pro on another iPhone.
- Settings → Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account.
- How do I cancel?
- iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → DashRoute. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the paid period. The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment and never renews, so there is nothing to cancel.
- How do I delete everything?
- Delete trips from the Trips list, or delete the app: your videos, routes and events are not stored anywhere else. Usage statistics and purchase records (tied to a random ID, never your name or email) are described in the Privacy Policy.
- Can I turn off usage statistics?
- Yes: Settings → Privacy → Usage statistics. DashRoute then sends no usage events; purchase records are still kept by Apple and RevenueCat.
